JOB SUMMARY

The Housing Advocate Supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and daily support to front‑line Housing Advocate staff who serve individuals and families seeking shelter at The Road Home. This role helps ensure that all guests experience a safe, welcoming, and trauma‑informed environment while receiving high‑quality shelter services. Working as part of a cohesive supervisory team, the Housing Advocate Supervisor contributes to a strong, coordinated shelter response by modeling compassionate engagement, supporting problem‑solving during challenging situations, and fostering a culture of respect and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, coaching, and support to 24/7 front‑line staff.
  • Work collaboratively with other shelter supervisors to ensure all guests receive trauma‑informed, person‑centered services.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff; identify facility or staffing needs and communicate them to the Director.
  • Identify and share relevant community resources that may support guests in meeting their basic needs and housing goals.
  • Serve as an integral member of The Road Home’s leadership team by providing feedback on staff performance, guest concerns, and opportunities to strengthen shelter services.
  • Support Housing Advocate staff in navigating challenging guest interactions, problem‑solving barriers, and advocating for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all safety‑related reporting, including incident reports and other critical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with other shelter supervisors and the Director to ensure clear communication about guest needs across agency departments and with community partners.
  • Facilitate daily shift‑change meetings and ensure consistent communication among staff across shifts.
  • Attend weekly supervisory meetings and participate in additional meetings as required.
  • Manage weekly staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage in compliance with shelter licensing requirements; provide coverage when minimum staffing is not met.
