Environmental Health and Safety; EHS Specialist – Laboratory

Immediate need for a talented Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist – Laboratory
. This is a 06+months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in South San Francisco, CA(Onsite). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

Pay Range: $30 - $50/hour. Traveler benefits as per agency package. (Benefits vary by vendor and assignment.)

• Schedule:
  
  8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• 5 days/week including every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
• Support EHS programs including biosafety, chemical safety, hazardous & medical waste, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and emergency response
• Conduct laboratory safety inspections (biosafety, fire prevention, hazardous materials compliance)
• Record findings in EHS database and drive corrective actions
• Oversee hazardous, medical, and universal waste collection and documentation
• Respond to workplace incidents and conduct investigations
• Perform hazard identification, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Coordinate CPR, First Aid, and AED trainings
• Deliver EHS orientation training to contractors
• Support lab commissioning, decommissioning, and safety equipment setup
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
• 0–5 years of EHS experience (biotech, pharmaceutical, or R&D laboratory preferred)
• Working knowledge of OSHA and applicable EHS regulations
• Familiarity with ANSI, NFPA, or NEC standards
• Experience with hazardous waste management
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Experience supporting laboratory-based EHS programs
• Incident investigation and root cause analysis experience
• Experience with EHS databases and compliance tracking systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving research environment
• Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, and general office software
