Role SummaryAs a Sr. PCBA Aerospace Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will deploy, qualify, and continuously improve test systems, processes, and procedures at Contract Manufacturing (CM) sites for Satellite PCBAs. You will serve as the main interface between Amazon Leo’s internal test development teams and manufacturing partners, ensuring successful test deployment through documentation, training, and onsite support. Your strong debugging skills will enable deep analysis of test failures to determine root causes.
Key Job Responsibilities- Develop test strategies and optimize test setup/processes at CM sites, including design and qualification of test fixtures, equipment, and maintenance programs.
- Perform PCBA debugging and root‑cause failure analysis, create runbooks, and provide training to technicians.
- Collaborate with R&D and Test Development teams to improve test systems, software, fixtures, and procedures.
- Analyze data to identify failure trends and recommend improvements for PCBA, process, and test systems.
- Develop and document procedures for test operators.
- Train operators on test processes and support recurring certification programs.
- Provide feedback to Test Development on test coverage, fault isolation, and DFT recommendations.
- Lead small teams to achieve short‑term objectives and implement strategic initiatives.
In this role you will solve challenging engineering problems related to a highly reliable, power‑efficient, high‑performance, low‑cost satellite system. You will work in the office, factory floor, manufacturing partner sites, and labs, applying a system‑level approach to prioritize issues across the program.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with Linux/RHEL or programming/scripting (e.g., Batch, VB, Power Shell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby, PHP).
- 8+ years of experience deploying, using, and training others on complex test systems, including RF functional tests, high‑power electrical tests, ICT/bed‑of‑nails fixtures, and flying probe test.
- 8+ years of experience integrating software and hardware systems.
- 8+ years of experience using standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) to debug complex PCBAs.
- Ability to write detailed test station operating procedures.
- Ability to create deployment/capacity plans for multiple testers at multiple CMs.
- 10+ years of experience deploying, using, and training others on complex test systems, including RF functional tests, high‑power electrical tests, ICT/bed‑of‑nails fixtures, and flying probe test.
- Experience with test plans and protocols related to established Space Hardware test processes (GEVS / SMC‑S‑016).
- Knowledge of software tools for test automation (e.g., NI LabVIEW, Test Stand, Python).
- Experience with electrical design of power supplies, FPGAs, sensors, RF, and high‑speed digital interfaces.
- Proven ability to run small teams to achieve objectives.
