Position Summary
The On Site Gas Technician is responsible for maintaining gas supply operations at the South San Francisco campus. The role ensures continuous availability of compressed gases and cryogenic fluids by managing daily cylinder checks, replacements, and inventory across multiple buildings. Strong communication with customers and coordination with vendor delivery drivers are essential to support uninterrupted site operations.
Key Responsibilities- Check gas cylinder fill levels daily (Monday through Friday)
- Replace cylinders and dewars as necessary
- Maintain on‑site product inventory
- Display good communication with customers
- Physically move heavy items using provided carts
- Check gas manifolds and microbulk gas supply for proper operation during daily rounds
- Assist vendor delivery drivers with gas cylinder deliveries and dry ice deliveries to multiple buildings on the South San Francisco campus
- Participate in team meetings on safety, gas equipment training, and process improvement for the site
- At least 6 months of similar experience
- High school diploma
- Ability to be trained to safely handle all types of compressed gases found at the site
- Completion of Genentech Contractor Safety Training course
- Completion of EH&S supplied training in Hazardous Material identification
- Completion of vendor supplied product and safety training in handling compressed gases and cryogenic fluids
- Understanding and completion of work orders in SAP before performing services at the site
Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM or 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Requires two days per week starting at 2:00 AM (Mondays and Thursdays).
CompensationEstimated salary: $71,900.00 – $88,100.00 per year.
LocationSouth San Francisco, CA – On‑site.
