Senior Mechanical Engineer for EV Battery Technology
Position:
On site full time
This position plays a key role in the design, analysis, simulation, and testing of mechanical components for advanced electric vehicle powertrain systems. You’ll be involved throughout the full product development cycle, from early concept work through new product introduction and production launch.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering foundation, enjoys turning concepts into real‑world solutions, and is excited to help shape next‑generation EV technology. In this role, you’ll act as a technical resource for complex mechanical challenges and help maintain design quality across the powertrain platform.
What You’ll Do- Own design, validation, and manufacturing support for EV battery systems used in aircraft, off‑road, and marine applications.
- Assess new manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment to support scale‑up and ongoing improvement of in‑house battery production.
- Develop test strategies and validation approaches for battery system failure modes.
- Conduct trade‑off studies and design of experiments to improve performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Manage part and assembly revisions using Solid Works CAD and PDM.
- Run structural, thermal, and fluid simulations in Sim Scale, then compare digital results against physical test data.
- Work closely with electrical, software, systems, and project management teams to deliver highly reliable products.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally with multi‑cell battery systems or high‑voltage applications.
- Experience taking products from concept through development, testing, certification, and production.
- Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping for jigs, fixtures, and functional hardware.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal bending, and 3D printing.
- Knowledge of joining and sealing methods including ultrasonic welding, wire bonding, laser welding, TIG, MIG, and IP67 sealing.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers, including source inspections.
- Ability to review technical work and provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- BS, MS, or MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Familiarity with aerospace or automotive safety certification requirements.
- Experience managing technical data and revision control in PDM/PLM systems such as Solid Works PDM, Arena, or Teamcenter.
- Exposure to high‑voltage safety and battery management systems.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes.
