About the Role

Gritt is hiring an Accounting & Finance Manager to own day-to-day financial operations and serve as the primary finance partner to our CFO. You will lead month-end close, regular tax filings, and financial reporting for the leadership and the Board, while also partnering with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analyses. You will also take on higher-judgment finance work including investor and audit inquiries, and building out financial infrastructure  expect you to bring a genuine accounting foundation to the role while also being comfortable operating across the broader finance function.

The ideal candidate has accounting expertise, thinks analytically about what the numbers mean for the business, and is excited about using AI tools to build a more efficient and scalable finance function at a growing startup.

What You’ll Do:

Accounting Operations

Lead all accounting operations including COA management, GL, revenue recognition; oversee month-end close, review and approve bookkeeper work to ensure accuracy and timeliness, working with existing book-keeping provider. Oversee tax implications of projects and ensure proper tax registrations, filings, and payments, working with existing tax service provider. Prepare financial statements and management reports for the leadership and the Board of Directors.

Manage billing, accounts receivable, and collections, including direct follow-up when needed. Manage accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements; implement and oversee procurement process. Respond to investor and audit inquiries with accuracy and professionalism.

Planning & Analysis

Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actuals analysis, financial reporting, operating metrics. Support board and investor reporting, including gross margin tracking, cost structure analysis, unit economics tracking, and scenario planning. Prepare ad hoc analyses to support data-driven decision making across leadership.

Financial Ops

Design and maintain internal controls; implement and maintain expense policies; ensure audit-traceable processes. Own and improve our accounting and treasury systems; manage third-party integrations; automate repeatable finance processes. Help us design the proper Finance function for an AI-native company, and contribute to getting us there.

Qualifications Required
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience, with a genuine accounting foundation
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and budget development
  • Experience with hardware & equipment accounting
  • Superb Excel and G-sheet skills and comfort with financial modeling and data manipulation
  • Experience with accounting software (Quick Books Online a strong plus)
  • Startup experience, or a clear appetite and skills for the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage company
  • Demonstrated interest in AI tools and their application to finance work
Preferred
  • CPA or working toward one
  • Mercury or Ramp (or other spend-management platforms)
  • Clear communicator of financial information to non-finance audiences; ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Hands-on experience building AI-assisted automations in a finance or accounting context
