Data Entry, Database Administrator
We are seeking a Data Operations/Inventory Coordinator to manage the registration pipeline for our research operations. Our team has developed an in‑house platform currently used to register chemicals, compound plates, cells, and antibodies with planned rollout of consumables. The coordinator will be the gatekeeper and executioner of this system. You will be interfacing with vendors and CROs to procure and ingest raw inventory data and experimental layouts from the scientists, execute registrations, troubleshoot all backend database errors, and partner with software engineers to fix system bugs.
The data files for cell lines/antibodies need to be created in‑house. Therefore, the coordinator is expected to retrieve information from various sources (web pages, catalogs, datasheets, etc.) to create the data files. Your primary responsibility is to ensure all biological and chemical entities are accurately registered in the system before experiments begin, removing all data‑entry burdens from the lab team.
Responsibilities 1. End-to-End Registration Ownership (50%)
- Data Ingestion: Receive inventory lists, vendor files (e.g., from MCE, Sigma), and assay layouts from scientists and other sources.
- System Execution: Input and/or batch‑upload chemicals, media, parent/child vials, plates, dose‑response plates, antibodies, cells and consumables into the internal registration system.
- Data Verification: Ensure mapping of relationships, such as linking Child Vials to Parent Compounds using correct identifiers (Serial IDs, CAS Numbers, Catalog Numbers etc..).
- Error Isolation: If there is failure of registration system, immediately investigate and address the issues.
- Data Remediation: Patch missing or corrupt database values to unblock the workflow.
Pre-Release Testing: Work closely with the engineering team to test software updates.
Qualifications & Experience- Education: B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related laboratory science.
- Experience: 2+ years working in a lab environment, compound management facility, or data operations role.
- System Expertise: Deep familiarity with LIMS, Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs), or chemical/biological inventory databases.
- Technical/Data
Skills:
Strong proficiency in Excel (data cleaning, VLOOKUPs). Basic SQL query skills are highly preferred to inspect backend database tables and fields. - Attributes: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, team-player, and a process‑oriented mindset.
