Position

We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.

A position is available in the department of Translational Imaging (DTI) for a highly motivated and independent candidate to utilize in vivo multi-modal adaptive optics retinal imaging in preclinical models (see PMID ) to explore the potential of cellular transplantation and neuroprotective therapies in the treatment of retinal degenerative disorders including glaucoma and Advanced Macular Degeneration.

The department of Translational Imaging develops and leverages novel in vivo imaging technologies to address key gaps in drug development. The imaging modality base within DTI spans microscopy to whole animal nuclear imaging. Technologies developed within the department are applied across drug development, from early preclinical research to clinical application.

You will collaborate with scientists in Research and Translational Ophthalmology to evaluate novel preclinical retinal disease models and treatments using state-of-the-art in vivo adaptive optics retinal imaging, reporter mice, AAV constructs, iPSC derived cells, histology, and Omics approaches.

Opportunity
  • You will have opportunities to productively collaborate with other researchers across departments, present your work to project teams, and contribute to scientific publications.
  • As a member of the Translational Imaging Department, you will join leaders in using in vivo imaging to enable early drug discovery and development.
  • You will be part of the Genentech post-doctoral training program that provides an outstanding environment and the opportunity to pursue fundamental basic science questions in an environment focused on drug development and breakthrough discoveries.
Who You Are
  • A Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Physics, Neuroscience, Immunology or a related field along with strong imaging, programming, and image processing experience.
  • Must also have advanced at least one research project as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a well-recognized peer-reviewed journal.
  • An independent scientist with outstanding communication skills and a passion for using complementary approaches including imaging to explore fundamental biology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in vivo ocular imaging in rodent models
  • Experience with IHC, qPCR, Western Blots, and cell culture
  • Experience with omics technologies and computational biology
