The hiring manager is looking for an Associate Scientist with strong molecular biology laboratory experience, specifically someone with hands-on experience performing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation. This is the single most important technical qualification. The ideal candidate is consistent, reliable, detail-oriented, and produces high-quality bench work with minimal mistakes. Because this is a busy and crowded laboratory environment, the candidate must also communicate effectively with teammates and collaborate.
KeyResponsibilities

- Perform basic histology (sectioning, staining, imaging) on tissue samples
- Perform basic cell culture
- Monitor or follow established experimental design and protocols and perform routine tasks and studies to obtain reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision
- Plan, monitor, or conduct, analyze, and record experiments, and provide interpretation of data
- Effectively transfer experimental methods from literature to the lab and make modifications as necessary
- Develop and implement new protocols with moderate review
- Engage coworkers in scientific discussions
- Communicate data and interpretation to work group
- Develop systems to ensure quality data
- Effectively troubleshoot equipment and experimental difficulties
- Contribute to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents
- Participate in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting, and committees
- May train staff and/or supervise others
- Coordinate and organize resources needed to complete the task
- Understand when to seek input and when to make independent judgments
- Experience with NGS library prep and sequencing, specifically Illumina sequencing library preparation, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), and RNA library preparation
- Molecular biology laboratory experience
- Bench laboratory experience
- Biology or Biochemistry background
- Experience in a biopharmaceutical working environment
- Produces consistent laboratory results; can be trusted with laboratory work
- Attention to detail: does not mix up samples, is organized, keeps a clean workspace, and produces accurate laboratory work
- Experience with single-cell sequencing
- Experience with spatial transcriptomics
- Experience with histology and handling tissue sections (extensive pathology background not required; minimal experience with tissue sections is sufficient)
- Experience supporting RNA sequencing workflows, particularly RNA-seq library preparation
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field plus approximately 2 years of relevant laboratory experience
- OR Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- OR Associate's degree and 4 years of experience
- OR High school diploma/GED and 6 years of experience
- Manager is open to fresh Master's graduates and fresh PhD graduates

- Minimum 2 years of relevant bench or industry laboratory experience (for Bachelor's-level candidates)
- Hands-on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation experience is the primary requirement
- Experience with single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics
- Histology experience (exposure to working with tissue sections; extensive pathology background not required)
- Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans
- 401k Retirement Fund
