Job Summary

Job Title: Scientist II

Work Location: South San Francisco, CA

Working Hours: Standard 8 hour shift (40 hours weekly)

Interview Format: Two Rounds (1. Hiring Manager [30 minutes - virtual]; 2. Panel [3 hours - onsite])

Join our cutting-edge research team as a vital member of our Viral Vector Core. In this role, you will drive the production, analytics, and development of next-generation viral vectors. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, detail-oriented researcher to support our gene therapy pipeline, contribute to innovative therapeutic modalities and facilitate our research community in applying viral vectors as powerful research tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Core Viral Production & Analytics: Deliver high-quality viral vector core services, including the end-to-end production of lentiviral libraries and Adeno-associated virus (AAV), as well as robust downstream viral vector analytics.
  • Data & Inventory Management: Maintain a meticulously organized virus inventory and registry utilizing our digital informatics platforms to ensure data integrity and traceability.
  • Next-Gen Modality Engineering: Assist with the engineering, production, and technology development of novel viral vectors and emerging viral-based modalities.
  • Application of Viral Vector and CRISPR technologies: Actively participate in the advanced in vitro and in vivo genome engineering using CRISPR/Cas9 systems.
Skills
  • Proficient in mammalian cell culture and general molecular biology techniques such as transient plasmid transfection, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, dPCR and Western blot.
  • Working experience s with lentivirus or AAV production and application, CRISPR technology for genome editing are highly desirable.
  • Experience with flow cytometer operations, electronic notebook and proficiency in data analysis and computational programming are also strong plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education

MS or PhD degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Genetics, or a related discipline with 3+ years of laboratory research experience.
