Our Client's Department of Immunology Discovery is seeking a creative, self-motivated, and collaborative Scientist III to join its research team in South San Francisco.
The selected candidate will contribute to innovative research focused on understanding how intracellular pathways regulate immune cell phenotypes, tissue migration, and inflammation
. This is a highly hands‑on laboratory position requiring strong expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cellular immunology
.
The Scientist III will design and execute experiments to investigate disease pathways, validate therapeutic targets, and support cutting‑edge immunology research. The role also involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across Genentech to advance research objectives.
Required Qualifications- Ph.D. or equivalent in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Hands‑on experience isolating immune cells for downstream analysis.
- Strong practical experience with cellular and molecular immunology techniques
. - Experience with primary cell isolation from human blood
. - Hands‑on experience conducting in vitro immunological assays
. - Experience with multidimensional flow cytometry
. - Strong oral and written communication skills
. - Demonstrated ability to apply creative problem‑solving to complex research challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment and align with Genentech’s culture and standards.
- Experience with cell engineering
, including:- Protein over-expression
- CRISPR-mediated knockout (KO) techniques
- Hands‑on experience collecting tissues from rodents
, such as:- Colon
- Spleen
- Lymph nodes
- Bone marrow
- Experience analyzing single-cell RNA-seq or bulk RNA-seq data
.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on immunology scientist with strong experience in primary immune cell isolation, cellular assays, and multidimensional flow cytometry. Candidates who also bring expertise in cell engineering, CRISPR, rodent tissue collection, and/or RNA-seq data analysis will be especially competitive.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys working at the laboratory bench, solving complex biological questions, and collaborating with cross-functional research teams to advance therapeutic discovery.
