Position Overview

Department of Immunology Discovery at Genentech is seeking a highly talented, driven and motivated Scientist3 for the Kim Lab to investigate novel pathways, biologics and potential therapeutic targets to treat autoimmune diseases. The Scientist3 will lead projects that advance our understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of T cell biology in inflammation and autoimmunity. The candidate will work independently and collaboratively on pipeline projects and will be responsible for advancing exciting and novel research stage programs into early clinical development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and advance projects in T cell biology and autoimmunity.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments in vitro and in vivo to test novel pathways and molecules.
  • Generate solid proof‑of‑concept data and identify mechanisms of action for new targets.
  • Collaborate with immunology, human genetics, antibody engineering and early clinical development labs.
  • Present research findings at intra‑ and inter‑departmental meetings.
Qualifications
  • PhD degree and post‑doctoral experience in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field.
  • Good understanding of basic cellular and molecular immunology.
  • Documented record of professional achievement in the form of high‑quality publications.
  • Proficiency in cellular and molecular immunology techniques including primary cell isolation, in vitro stimulation of hematopoietic/immune cells, advanced flow cytometry, ELISA, qRT‑PCR/RNAseq/scRNA‑seq, and Western blot.
  • Experience or willingness to develop in‑vivo models.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a core lab environment.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $103,400 – $192,000, based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available. Relocation benefits are available. This position also qualifies for the comprehensive benefits package detailed on the company site.
