Position Overview
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nathaniel West in the Department of Discovery Oncology laboratory focuses on the discovery of novel regulators of anti‑tumor immunity, particularly cytokine pathways that support tumor‑specific T cell responses while minimizing host toxicity.
Responsibilities- Employ state‑of‑the‑art technologies to explore fundamental cancer immunology.
- Collaborate with researchers across Genentech to accelerate research progress.
- Utilize core facilities, including animal modeling, protein chemistry, and computational biology.
- Participate in the Genentech post‑doctoral training program, presenting work internally and externally, and engaging in career development activities.
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field with a proven track record of research accomplishments.
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience in immunology and T cell biology.
- Experience with in vivo models.
- Ability to formulate scientific questions, design and perform experiments, interpret results, and communicate findings effectively.
- Ability to analyze high‑dimensional data.
- Advanced at least one key research project, evidenced by a first‑author paper published or accepted in a leading peer‑reviewed journal.
- Independent scientist with outstanding communication and collaboration skills, and a strong passion for cancer immunology.
- Preferred: experience with cancer cell biology, molecular biology, protein chemistry, and cell biology techniques.
Salary range: $100,000 to $106,500, based on primary location in South San Francisco, California.
