Environmental Conditions:
Laboratory setting, some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
This fully onsite role is based at our customer’s site in South San Francisco, CA. Candidates may apply from any location within the U.S. Relocation assistance is not provided, and any relocation costs are the applicant’s responsibility. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and must pass a comprehensive background check that includes a drug screening.
Key Responsibilities- Support sample management, acquisition, registration, preparation, and distribution workflows for biologic samples such as DNA, RNA, proteins, cell lines, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Adapt scientific knowledge to resolve problems encountered while meeting internal and project deadlines.
- Review and follow laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions.
- Demonstrate command of all techniques and tools required for assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure safe working practices.
- Perform sample‑management activities: acquisition of new samples, sample registration and data entry, aliquoting, aseptic handling, and quality control.
- Execute standard molecular biology techniques including plasmid DNA preparation, sequencing, sequence analysis, and nucleic‑acid analytical/QC methods.
- Conduct analytical techniques and automated liquid handling.
- Optional:
Familiarity with establishing laboratory automation platforms and writing methods. - Optional:
Experience with Titian Mosaic or other Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). - Maintain laboratory records, reports, and files.
- Independently manage and resolve technical problems.
- Recommend and assist in implementing goals, objectives, and approved policies and procedures.
- Provide support to colleagues with equipment or technical requirements for ongoing projects.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories.
- Bachelor’s degree in lab sciences such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or similar.
- Assoc Scientist: 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Scientist: 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- OR Master’s degree, or an equivalency comprising a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Prior experience with protein sample management and QC techniques.
- Experience with standard molecular biology techniques: plasmid DNA preparation, sequencing, sequence analysis, and nucleic‑acid QC methods.
- Experience with oligonucleotide and cell‑line samples.
- Experience with automated liquid handling and analytical techniques.
- Experience with Titian Mosaic or other LIMS systems.
- Team player who is agile, open to change, highly organized, self‑motivated, and possesses strong analytical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a collaborative team‑oriented setting aligned with the company vision/mission.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and processes while operating under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate work habits.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other scientific staff.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift and bend, lifting up to 50 lbs overhead when needed, and to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to maintain excellent laboratory records.
- Computer proficiency.
- Communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
