Operations Manager
Job Description
The focus areas of this position include being the primary contact and leader for the shift, ensuring all products are available for production, and accurately fulfilling sales and shipping orders. The role also maintains supporting processes such as slacking or blast freezing, and leads asset and facility stewardship. It ensures the right staff are present at the right time, aligned with business objectives, and manages the people, facility, trailers in the yard, and inventory control processes.
OverviewTo be successful, this person will be an expert at using our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and teaching others. The role is mission‑oriented, leading by communicating priorities, being resourceful, solving problems, and ensuring employees are competent. It thrives on shifting priorities, problem‑solving, and on‑the‑ground leadership. This position is key in selecting, training, and retaining employees, thinking beyond the shift.
Responsibilities- Provide direction and decision support to shift employees to ensure sales orders are built and loaded on time and that the correct raw materials are delivered to the production line.
- Clarify goals, make schedule and task changes for personnel, and work with all parties to resolve product availability issues.
- Set expectations and lead by example across shifts.
- Develop and implement best practices to achieve performance goals, including daily task sequencing and operational improvements for freezing, chilling, and thawing raw material.
- Leverage technology to improve processes, focusing on quality, simplicity, and productivity.
- Coordinate and assist in all inbound and outbound dock activities, including receiving, unloading, induction, slacking, testing products, new products, samples, preparing sales orders, sales order staging, and loading shipments.
- Manager of the yard: monitor and evaluate product security/protection services, establish and maintain inventory control processes, and maximize distribution center efficiency.
- Assist with supervision and coordination of ground beef operations and other business segments as appropriate.
- Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Skills and Abilities
- General computer knowledge and proficiency preferred.

- Communicate effectively with all employee levels, both written and oral, including radio communication, emails, and trucking companies.

- Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, reaching, bending, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull 60 lbs.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
1 year or more of plant operations experience preferred, along with proven leadership skills.
EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions. A Bachelor’s degree in operations, supply chain management, or related discipline preferred; well-rounded experience may substitute for formal education.
