Position Description

Neighbors, Inc. is a non-profit, social-service agency with 50+ years of experience serving Dakota County and surrounding communities with high dignity basic needs services (Hunger Relief, Clothing and Community Resources) and most recently Financial Empowerment services were launched to help lift communities out of poverty. With the tremendous support of over 400+ active volunteers and 22 staff, Neighbors is a pillar of support and unity in our community and is well known as a place for individuals to turn to for help.

We focus on meeting immediate needs while empowering individuals to move towards self-sufficiency.

Career and Financial Coach

Non-exempt, Fulltime

$22.00 – $25.00 per hour

The Career and Financial Coach works closely with leadership in the development and service delivery of the Career and Financial Empowerment Program. The Program Coach works directly with clients to increase financial capability and wellbeing through the application of person centered, strength-based coaching techniques. In addition, this position assists clients who lack stability in their basic needs.

Financial Empowerment Center Manager

The position does not supervise employees but may oversee volunteers.

Case Management – 60%

• Promote improved financial capability and wellbeing by providing financial coaching and education focusing on reducing asset poverty, wealth divides, and disparities in 1:1 and small group settings.
• Support financial growth through job-based coaching, educational pathway guidance and employment based self-advocacy.
• Facilitate goal identification and setting, support clients in their achievement process.
• Assist with organizing, prioritizing and implementing strategies to build or rebuild credit in alignment with their goals.
• Interview clients to assess their needs, gather information, make referrals and assist with completing applications to available programs.
• Educate and encourage participant’s use of appropriate low-cost, convenient, and transparent financial products.
• Conduct work readiness training in 1:1 and small group setting covering topics including topics such as; resume development, soft skills, application, and interviewing assistance.
• Assess the need of and administer support services and incentives to program participants.
• Meet or exceed goals and outcomes established for the program.
• Build relationships with business that lead to family sustaining wages with benefits.
• Participate in financial empowerment program planning, implementation, and evaluation to assess outcomes and impacts.

Outreach – 20%

• Build community awareness of program offerings through recruitment and outreach activities and informational sessions.
• Develop a network of partnerships for accessible referrals.

Data Entry – 20%

• Maintain accurate and up to date documentation on participant enrollees.
• Submit data on appropriate program databases both internally (i.e. Apricot) and on required funder platforms (i.e. Workforce One) or other designated platforms.
• Pull data and compile reports as necessary for program evaluation purposes.

Other Job Functions

• Assist with answering agency phones as needed.
• Assist with the Holiday Gift and other related programming as needed.

Job Qualifications:

• 1 to 3 years of experience with financial and/or job coaching.
• Bachelor’s degree
• A demonstrably equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

• Proven familiarity with local and surrounding community.
• Bilingual:
  Spanish/English

• Ability to assess social, economic, emotional and health needs of diverse, underserved, disenfranchised and economically challenged communities and individuals.
• Knowledge of best practices in personal finance, financial products, and services.
• Understand and facilitate access to federal, state, county and other social-economic programs and services.
• Working knowledge on current work readiness trends and practices.
