About This Role
We are hiring Archery instructors for L.L.Bean's Outdoor Discovery Programs. We offer an in‑depth training program for enthusiasts who want to develop their skills and help others learn. Join an inclusive team and spend your summer teaching the sport you love.
Position PurposePromote and retain new customers with dynamic, creative classes and new activities. Inspire people to engage in outdoor adventures, increase participation by providing exemplary service, and boost sales conversion for ODP customers in equipment, outerwear, and active‑wear categories. Base pay is $17.94 per hour. Availability is required from April
11 through October
31 to accommodate training dates; the season duration is shorter.
- Demonstrate ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Consistently perform all responsibilities associated with safety protocols and program procedures.
- Confirm all equipment used is in appropriate working condition.
- Report any unsafe acts or conditions to the appropriate person.

- Participate in daily start‑up meetings.
- Provide professional and timely feedback to peers and colleagues when needed.
- Maintain expertise of equipment and products used in the courses you teach.
- Know specifications (uses, materials, pros and cons) of relevant L.L.Bean equipment and apparel and share this information with customers to encourage product sales.
- Participate in promotional events when equipment expertise is needed.
- Be knowledgeable about regional ODP programs and promotional offerings.
- Have a firm understanding of course content.
- Teach in a relaxed, clear, and confident manner to a variety of participants.
- Deliver all components of the curriculum within the allotted time.
- Deliver all key points required for course openings and closings.
- Perform daily administrative duties associated with instructing classes.
- Accurately and daily complete the Daily Activity Reports (DARs).
- Maintain participant agreements, roster, incident reports, vehicle logs, ADA documentation, facilities inspection logs, and other assigned documentation.

EducationLevel
High School diploma or GED.
Skills and Qualifications- Certification or specialized training in outdoor‑related activities.
- Proven experience planning, organizing, and leading outdoor experience trips.
- First Aid/CPR certification or training.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate participants.
- Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation, and a positive attitude.
- Established time‑management and organization skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in active gear for appropriate activity.
- Retail experience is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
