Position: Tool & Cutter Grinder

Electro-Methods is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool & Cutter Grinder to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This position is critical to ensure the precision and quality of cutting tools used in the production of complex aerospace components. The Cutter Grinder will set up, operate, and maintain cutter grinding equipment to produce, recondition, and sharpen tools that meet stringent aerospace specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate manual cutter grinding machines to manufacture and recondition cutting tools (including: surface grinders, Cincinnati Monoset, Pratt & Whitney R8 Radius Grinder, Cincinnati Milacron).
- Interpret engineering tool drawings and specifications to produce tools to required tolerances.
- Inspect tools using precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, tool presetters, etc.).
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to optimize tool performance and reduce downtime.
- Ensure all work complies with company quality standards, aerospace specifications, and safety procedures.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Cutter Grinder in a manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred).
- Experience with manual cutter grinding equipment is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of tool geometry and cutting principles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and aerospace specifications.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and tool inspection techniques.

- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (due to aerospace compliance).
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Work environment includes exposure to machinery, lubricants, and moderate noise levels in a manufacturing setting.
