As a Die Cutting Operator you will set up, operate, maintain, and document die cutting machines in a fast‑paced environment, collaborating with multiple projects and applying problem‑solving skills.
Day in the Life- Safely and efficiently operate the die cutting machine.
- Stage materials for the next job (printed sheets, cutting die, plate, blanking tools).
- Monitor sheets while the job is running.
- Transport die‑cut loads to gluing and stripping staging areas.
- Conduct routine maintenance and assist in process improvement and waste reduction.
- Maintain organization of plates and cutting dies.
- Follow all departmental safety rules, policies, and good manufacturing and food‑safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or 1‑3 years of related experience/training; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety and operational instructions, procedures, and policies.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement conversions).
- Follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions and operational procedures.
- Basic computer proficiency for reading work instructions, recording job data, and electronic communication.
- Attention to detail, mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Interpret product layouts, production specifications, tape measures, and measurements accurately.
- Preferred qualifications: Mechanical background and prior die‑cutting operator experience at a printing or packaging company.
Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must lift or move up to 25lb regularly and occasionally up to 50lb. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and focus adjustments. Exposed to moving mechanical parts, dice, humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
