Schedule:
Mon - Fri 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Compensation: MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience. The starting pay for this position is between $37.00 and $53.07 an hour.
Job Summary:Responsible for providing, promoting and maintaining quality patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic imaging exams through education, standards of practice, professional growth and collaboration with other colleagues. This is accomplished by a complete and thorough process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, teaching, counseling, and facilitating the care of the patients in Radiology Services. Key duties include assessment/treating adverse reactions and events in the office setting and assisting with pre/post procedure patient communication.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assesses the biological, psychological, sociological, and cultural needs of the patient and family, and function as a patient advocate
- Assesses, triages, and monitors patient condition including vital sign monitoring, and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
- Recognizes and provides treatment of contrast reactions
- Intervenes in emergency situations
- Demonstrates skill in using special equipment such as O2 equipment, AED, etc.
- Documents patient assessment status and nursing interventions
- Performs pre/post procedure phone calls
- Partners with radiology providers to relay medical advice to patients
- Provides education to other health care professionals regarding patient care, safety, infection control, etc.
- Evaluates, prepares, and distributes written patient education materials to staff, patients and families
- Completes patient safety/education projects under the direction of the Radiology Nurse Manager
- Participates in the development and evaluation of policies and procedures in radiology, regulatory readiness
Qualifications Guidelines:
Education/Experience
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Nursing or related field
- Two year's experience as a critical care nurse/ambulatory care
Licensure/Cartification
Required:
- CPR (BLS and ACLS) certification.
- Current CT RN state license
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to use independent and mature judgment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Keen physical assessment and venous skills
- Working knowledge applicable to all radiology modalities, including patient care standards and requirements, Joint Commission and OSHA standards and practices.
- Ability to operate emergency and monitoring equipment
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
- Capable of maintaining advanced life support (ACLS).
Special Conditions:
OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
May involve physical lifting and/or walking.
