Job Title:
Construction Project Manager
Location:
Witbank Job Type: 4 month contract, expected to work Full-Time hours
Job Duties:
- Develop a Project Execution Plan (for the scope of work) monitoring all stakeholders and technical functions and execute in accordance with clients’ requirements. This will include but not limited to:
- Scope Management (Define the scope of the work and develop a WBS for the total Scope).
- Time Management (Develop as part of time management a Project Schedule).
- Risk Management, Change Management, Quality Management, HR Management, Communication Management, Stakeholder Management.
- Facilitate the following workshops:
- Scoping, Risk and Planning workshops
- Set-up of required project controls to ensure delivery against the client’s requirements.
- Monitoring and Control the Scope, Quality, Schedule, Cost and Change.
- Transparent reporting of progress to stakeholders and the Management Team. This will be in the form of an integrated month report.
- Monitor response plans on identified risks and early identification of new risks that may impact on the execution outcome of the project.
- Decision Management directing the execution and outcome.
- Issue Management and escalation of issues to management for resolution.
- Management the Integrated Change Control process on time, cost, scope, and quality changes that may be required.
- Ensure the maintenance of the design phase schedule with the allocated planner/scheduler.
- Ensure the development of the execution schedule with the allocated planner/scheduler to the project.
- Report on the status progress as required by the client.
- Monitoring and controlling the Project Schedule against plan vs actual tasks, milestones, and deliverables progress including:
- Coordinating with all relevant project team members and project stakeholders to define schedule requirements (accuracy, sequencing, and level of activity decomposition).
- Resource loading.
- Perform critical path analysis and report critical deviations to the client.
- Assessing risks to the critical path(s) and developing treatment actions including contingency to provide required levels of confidence.
- Assessing opportunities to optimize the schedule.
- Monitoring all associated shaft schedules, providing accurate reports on progress, variance to plan, root causes, and remedial actions.
- Monitoring the greater environment to identify potential risks to the schedule.
- Monitor and control progress against schedules (with the planner/ scheduler and the Project Team) ensuring:
- Progress tracking and trends.
- Identifying and communicating any schedule conflicts, resource constraints, time constraints etc. to the client.
- Early identification of variance.
- Initiate formal change process where applicable.
- Forecast impact and adjust schedule accordingly based on confidence in remedial and recovery actions.
- Provide a monthly status report to the client.
- As part of good practice ensure that the following registers are maintained:
- Issue Log.
- Incident Log.
- Decisions Log.
- Risk Register.
- Change control log.
Site Coordination
- Review drawings and specifications
- Plan site logistics and sequencing
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
- Ensure materials and equipment are available when required
- Manage daily site activities
- Supervise site staff and subcontractors
- Monitor productivity and performance
- Resolve site issues and technical challenges
- Ensure proper site housekeeping
- Assist the appointed Safey/Legal Appointee with:
- Enforce safety regulations and compliance
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Ensure risk assessments and method statements are implemented
- Investigate incidents and near misses
- Ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications
- Monitor inspections and testing
- Manage snag lists / punch lists
- Oversee
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mech/Process Eng
- PMP or equivalent
- Min 15 years' experience in coal process plants
- Practical experience in capital process plant execution projects
- Mine Health and Safety Act (2.6.1)
