Positioned within an established boutique wealth management firm offering discretionary investment management and independent financial advisory services, this part-time, half-day role is critical for driving compliance, managing complex SARS interactions, and developing a sustainable tax practice. This hybrid position requires an initial three-month office-based integration period, transitioning thereafter into a structured arrangement of two days remote and three days in-office per week.
The successful candidate will take immediate ownership of servicing an existing client base while strategically expanding client relationships to foster the long-term growth of the firm's tax division.
Tax Compliance & Submission:
Prepare and submit high-quality individual, company, trust, and other applicable tax returns while ensuring strict adherence to South African tax legislation.
Provisional Tax Management:
Oversee and manage accurate provisional tax calculations and timely submissions.
SARS Liaison & Dispute Resolution:
Act as the primary point of contact with SARS, expertly handling queries, verifications, audits, objections, appeals, and comprehensive dispute resolution matters.
Advisory & Consulting:
Provide practical, high-level tax consulting services and clear advice to individuals, trusts, and corporate clients.
Tax Planning & Optimisation:
Review client financial positions systematically to identify innovative, compliant tax planning opportunities.
Practice Growth & Development:
Nurture existing client relationships and identify cross-selling or service expansion opportunities to grow the firm's dedicated tax practice.
- SA Citizen, Driver's License with own transport
- A relevant tertiary qualification specialising in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related commercial discipline.
- 5 years of practical, post-qualification taxation experience, specifically within a professional services or wealth management environment.
- Current, active registration as a Tax Practitioner in good standing with a recognised controlling body (e.g., SAIT, SAICA, SAIPA).
- Demonstrated track record of managing complex SARS administration, audits, objections, and legal appeals directly.
- Deep, up-to-date knowledge of South African tax legislation and statutory processes.
- Exceptional verbal and written UK English communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical tax concepts to clients simply.
- MS office Suite, Google Suite, SARS eFiling / e@syFile experienced
