An exciting opportunity exists for an ambitious and commercially minded Management Accountant to play a pivotal role in launching and building the finance function of a newly established furniture manufacturing division within a diversified and growing investment group.
This is not a traditional reporting role.
The successful candidate will become a key business partner to operational leadership, helping design processes, establish controls, implement costing models and provide the financial insights required to scale a manufacturing operation from the ground up.
The group has interests across property development, construction, industrial warehousing, luxury hospitality, short-term accommodation and manufacturing, providing exceptional exposure to multiple industries and long-term career growth.
ROLE:
You will take ownership of the management accounting function within the new manufacturing division, working closely with operational teams to establish robust costing methodologies, inventory controls, reporting structures and commercial decision-making frameworks.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, building systems from scratch and being deeply involved in operations rather than simply reporting historical numbers.
Manufacturing Costing & Commercial Finance- Develop, implement and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) across all product lines.
- Establish and continuously improve standard costing and product costing methodologies.
- Analyse manufacturing variances, labour efficiency, material usage and production performance.
- Monitor product profitability, gross margins and operational KPIs.
- Provide commercial insights to support pricing decisions and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Conduct cost analyses on new products, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Design and implement inventory control processes and procedures.
- Manage stock accounting, inventory reconciliations and stock valuation.
- Monitor inventory movements, shrinkage, wastage and slow-moving stock.
- Partner with procurement and production teams to optimise working capital and stock levels.
- Oversee cycle counts and annual stock takes.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and divisional reporting packs.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning processes.
- Perform detailed variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop financial dashboards and operational reporting tools.
- Support year-end audits and statutory compliance requirements.
- Assist with tax, VAT and regulatory reporting where required.
- Build finance processes, controls and reporting structures from the ground up.
- Drive ERP, inventory management and manufacturing system improvements.
- Establish policies and procedures to support operational scalability.
- Implement best-practice financial controls and governance frameworks.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve efficiency and decision-making.
- Partner with manufacturing, procurement, warehousing and operational leadership.
- Support feasibility studies, capital expenditure evaluations and investment decisions.
- Provide financial modelling and business case analysis for strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the division as a member of the broader leadership team.
- Degree in Management Accounting or similar.
- Proven management accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Demonstrated experience in product costing, standard costing and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Strong inventory, stock control and warehouse finance experience.
- Experience building processes, controls and reporting structures from scratch.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- ERP experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving ability.
- Furniture manufacturing experience.
- Experience with in industrial manufacturing, construction products or related sectors.
- Experience scaling finance functions within growing businesses.
- Ability to operate confidently between the factory floor and executive boardroom.
