Job Description
Red Ember Recruitment is recruiting a Credit Risk Analyst for our client based in Kempton Park.
We are looking for a motivated and analytical professional to assess, monitor, and manage credit risk while supporting sound business decisions and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management & Governance:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework.
- Formulate and enhance risk management policies, procedures, methodologies, and standards.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and internal control frameworks. Monitor the organisation's overall risk exposure and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Promote a strong risk-aware culture across the business.
Credit
Risk Management:
- Conduct credit assessments and analyses to support lending and business decisions.
- Develop and maintain credit risk management policies and monitoring tools.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging credit risks.
- Analyse delinquency trends, asset quality, and portfolio concentration risks.
- Recommend improvements to credit approval and review processes.
- Support the development of credit scoring models and risk assessment methodologies.
Market
Risk Management:
- Monitor and assess exposure to market-related risks, including interest rate, economic, and industry risks.
- Analyse market trends and their potential impact on the business.
- Develop strategies to mitigate market-related exposures.
- Provide regular market risk reporting and recommendations.
Operational Risk & Internal Controls:
- Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks across business functions.
- Maintain and update operational risk registers.
- Investigate risk incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and implement improvements where necessary.
- Support internal audits and regulatory reviews.
- Ensure compliance with established risk management and control processes.
Compliance & Regulatory Management:
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, legislation, and company policies.
- Support the development and maintenance of the company's compliance framework.
- Review business practices and procedures to identify compliance risks.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagements.
- Support Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Consumer Protection, and governance initiatives.
Training & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Provide guidance and training on risk management and compliance matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business units to implement risk mitigation initiatives. Support strategic projects, process improvements, and new product assessments from a risk perspective.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Risk Management
- Finance
- Economics
- Accounting
- Law
- Or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in:
- Credit Risk Analysis
- Risk Management
- Compliance Management
- Banking, Lending, or Financial Services
Advantageous
- NCR Registration
- Experience in microfinance, consumer lending, or banking environments
- Knowledge of AML, FAIS, NCA, POPIA, and other relevant financial sector regulations
