Head Guide

This is a hands-on leadership role for a guide who combines exceptional field knowledge with genuine mentorship ability; the lodge places equal weight on character, attitude and long-term commitment as it does on technical experience.

• FGASA Level 2 or 3 qualification (Trails Guide qualification advantageous)
• Extensive experience guiding in a Big Five reserve
• Proven experience managing or mentoring a guiding and tracking team
• Valid PrDP and rifle competency for dangerous game
• Strong knowledge of local flora, fauna and ecosystems
• Excellent guest engagement and storytelling ability
• Strong leadership, training and team management skills
• Willingness to learn and grow within the operation
• Genuine passion for luxury hospitality and conservation
• Strong character, cultural fit and a long-term outlook

• Lead and manage the guiding and tracking team
• Conduct game drives and guided bush walks to a high standard
• Oversee guest safety protocols and field procedures
• Train, mentor and develop junior guides and trackers
• Maintain guiding vehicles and field equipment to standard
• Liaise with lodge management on guest experience and feedback
• Manage guiding rosters, scheduling and daily operations
• Uphold conservation, ethics and environmental best practice
• Support broader lodge standards across departments as needed
