General Manager

Location: Hoedspruit

A small, intimate luxury safari lodge in the Hoedspruit region is seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the property.

This is a hands-on management role suited to an experienced lodge professional who enjoys being actively involved in the guest experience, staff management, operational standards and the financial performance of the property.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the lodge operation, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maintaining strong financial controls, effective budgeting and cost efficiencies.

REQUIREMENT:

• RSA  legal residence essential
• Proven experience in a General Manager, Lodge Manager or senior lodge management position
• Previous experience in a luxury lodge or 4/5 Star hospitality environment advantageous
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial management and cost control
• Strong understanding of lodge financials and departmental budgets
• Experience with financial reporting and monitoring expenditure
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Excellent guest relations and communication abilities
• Strong operational and administrative skills
• Experience with stock control, procurement and supplier management
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the property
• Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
• Computer literate
• Valid Driver's Licence advantageous

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the complete day-to-day operation of the lodge
• Ensure exceptional guest service and hospitality standards
• Lead, manage, train and develop the lodge team
• Prepare, manage and monitor departmental budgets and operational expenditure
• Monitor financial performance, costs and variances and implement corrective measures where required
• Assist with forecasting, financial reporting and overall budget control
• Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining luxury service standards
• Oversee operational administration, stock, purchasing and supplier relationships
• Manage guest relations and ensure personalised guest experiences
• Monitor property standards, maintenance and presentation
• Manage staff schedules and operational requirements
• Liaise with owners/management regarding operational and financial performance
• Ensure the lodge operates efficiently, professionally and profitably at all times

PACKAGE:

• R30,000 – R40,000 per month (DOE)
• Live-in accommodation provided
