An intimate Big 5 Safari Lodge in Kwa Zulu-Natal is seeking a capable and level-headed ASSISTANT MANAGER to join their close-knit team

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a small-team, remote lodge environment and can confidently manage in-camp operations independently. The successful candidate will need to think on their feet, stay calm under pressure, and build strong working relationships with both guests and staff.

Core Criteria:

Valid driver's licence essential
Valid First Aid Level 1 certification preferred
Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar role
Able to work independently and use own initiative
Confident and respectful in managing staff
Energetic, eager to learn, and willing to dive in
Friendly, approachable demeanour suited to close-knit team living
Comfortable working and living in close quarters with colleagues

Core Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day in-camp operations and resolve issues as they arise
Use sound judgement and initiative to manage situations independently
Support and guide staff with confidence, fairness, and respect
Maintain a calm, professional approach under pressure
Foster a positive, energetic team environment
Uphold high standards of guest experience and camp operations

Offer:

Salary: R13,000 negotiable, depending on experience
Live-in position
Meals while on duty, plus a grocery allowance for off-duty periods
Compulsory provident fund contribution
