HR Business Partner required in Somerset West.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Lead and manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for operational, technical, artisan, supervisory, and specialist roles
- Partner with line management to understand production requirements, shift structures, and skills needs
- Develop and manage workforce plans aligned to production demands, project timelines, and budget constraints
- Drive recruitment for scarce and critical skills (artisans, technicians, engineers, SHEQ, supervisors)
- Coordinate advertising, sourcing, screening, interviews, assessments, and appointment processes
- Manage relationships with recruitment agencies, labour brokers, and training institutions
- Ensure recruitment practices comply with MEIBC agreements, Employment Equity, and internal policies
- Oversee onboarding, induction, and probation processes to ensure rapid integration into operations
- Labour Relations & MEIBC Compliance
- Ensure all appointments, contracts, wage structures, and working conditions align with the MEIBC Main Agreement
- Advise management on recruitment-related labour risks, fixed‑term contracts, temporary labour, and conversions
- Support discipline, grievance, and performance matters linked to recruitment and placement decisions
- Maintain effective working relationships with shop stewards and union representatives regarding staffing matters
- HR Operations & Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA, OHSA)
- Prepare compliant employment contracts, job profiles, and remuneration structures
- Support payroll inputs relating to new hires, allowances, overtime, and shift work
- Maintain accurate HR and recruitment records, metrics, and reporting
- Drive recruitment in line with Employment Equity plans and targets
- Monitor and report on recruitment demographics and compliance
- Support transformation initiatives while ensuring operational effectiveness
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR, with strong recruitment and workforce planning exposure in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience recruiting within a Bargaining Council‑regulated and unionised environment
- Solid knowledge of South African labour legislation, MEIBC agreements, and EE requirements
- Experience recruiting artisans, technical, and operational roles
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
