Job Summary
The Contracts Manager oversees the development, negotiation, administration, performance monitoring, and closeout of contracts across the company. The role ensures contractual risks are identified and managed, legal and regulatory compliance is maintained, commercial objectives are achieved, and contract lifecycle processes are efficient and auditable. The Contracts Manager serves as the central point of expertise for contract interpretation, dispute resolution, and change management.

Key Responsibilities- Contract Drafting and Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including procurement, supply, service, subcontract, partnership, and master service agreements.
- Ensure commercial terms align with organisational objectives, risk appetite, and legal requirements.
Contract Administration and Lifecycle Management
- Establish and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, playbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Manage contract execution, amendments, renewals, extensions, novations, and terminations.
- Maintain an accurate and auditable contract register and repository.
- Track key contract dates, deliverables, and performance milestones.
Risk, Compliance and Governance
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits and provide required documentation.
Commercial Performance and Financial Controls
- Monitor contractor and vendor performance against SLAs, KPIs, costs, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with Finance to validate invoicing, payment terms, and cost recovery mechanisms.
- Support budgeting and forecasting related to contractual commitments.
Stakeholder Management and Advisory
- Provide contract management advice to business units, procurement, legal, project managers, and senior leadership.
- Facilitate contract governance forums and approval workflows.
- Lead contract negotiations with external parties where required.
Dispute Resolution and Change Control
- Manage contract disputes, claims, and variations.
- Assess the commercial impact of scope changes and contractual claims.
Continuous Improvement and Reporting
- Develop reports on contract performance, risk exposure, savings, and compliance.
- Drive improvements in contract management processes and systems.
Qualifications And Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in earthworks/groundworks on large civil or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, compaction, earth retention, and drainage systems.
- Competence with engineering design tools.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and leading engineering teams.
- Sound understanding of HSE standards and environmental controls.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
