Junior Sous Chef

Location: Klaserie Reserve

Property Type: Luxury Lodge

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Accommodation: Live-in

Kendrick Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Junior Sous Chef on behalf of a luxury lodge based in the Klaserie Reserve. This role is ideal for a hands-on, creative chef seeking experience in a high-end hospitality environment, supporting the Executive and Sous Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for lodge guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in line with lodge standards

  • Support the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff as required

  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen

  • Assist with menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients

  • Monitor stock levels, ordering and inventory control

  • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all dishes served

  • Collaborate with the team to optimise kitchen efficiency and service

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally within a lodge or luxury hospitality environment

  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and culinary techniques

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards

  • Team-oriented with good communication skills

  • Willingness to live on-site at the lodge
