TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE | Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp and Surrounding Geographical Areas

ROLE PURPOSE

The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, developing and growing profitable business opportunities within the assigned territory. This role combines technical expertise, consultative selling, business development and relationship management to drive sustainable revenue growth.

The successful incumbent will proactively identify opportunities, conduct technical assessments and lighting surveys, develop fit-for-purpose solutions, and convert opportunities into long-term customer relationships.

This role is ideally suited to a self-driven, commercially minded professional who thrives on achieving targets, opening new accounts, solving customer challenges and building a strong market presence.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.
Business Development and Revenue Growth

  • Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute territory growth plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Build a healthy sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals and market intelligence.
  • Consistently generate new leads and convert opportunities into profitable sales.
  • Expand the company's footprint within mining, industrial, commercial and related sectors.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling products and solutions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of competitor activities, market trends and customer requirements.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.

Success Indicators

  • Growth in sales revenue and gross profit.
  • New customer acquisition.
  • Expansion of existing customer accounts.
  • Healthy and active sales pipeline.

2.
Technical Sales and Solution Development

  • Understand customer operational, technical and commercial requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to assess customer environments and identify solution opportunities.
  • Recommend technically appropriate lighting solutions based on customer needs.
  • Present technical proposals and solution recommendations with confidence and credibility.
  • Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers and internal technical resources when required.
  • Assist customers in understanding technical specifications, product performance and application suitability.
  • Remain current with lighting technologies, energy efficiency developments and industry innovations.

Success Indicators

  • Quality and accuracy of technical recommendations.
  • Customer confidence and trust.
  • Successful conversion of technical opportunities.
