Customer Service and Counter Sales
- Lead the internal sales team by example through active involvement in daily sales activities.
- Motivate and coach the sales team to achieve monthly sales targets and service excellence.
- Assist customers telephonically and in person with product enquiries and technical advice.
- Identify customer requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
- Review and approve quotations where required.
- Personally assist with key quotations and high-value enquiries.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations to maximise conversion into sales.
- Process customer orders when required during busy periods.
- Resolve customer complaints and escalated queries promptly.
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key customers.
- Monitor daily sales performance and encourage the team to achieve branch targets.
- Oversee the accurate processing of customer and factory orders.
- Ensure orders are submitted to relevant departments without delay.
- Monitor outstanding orders and expedite urgent deliveries.
- Keep customers informed of order progress and delivery dates.
- Ensure excellent service levels.
- Ensure quotations, sales orders and customer records are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor quotation conversion rates and identify opportunities to improve sales.
- Assist withpricing
- Prepare weekly and monthly internal sales reports for branch management.
- Work closely with stores to ensure stock availability for customer orders..
- Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products to support sales opportunities.
- Drive a positive, energetic and customer-focused sales culture within the branch.
- Coach and mentor the internal sales team on product knowledge, selling techniques and customer service.
- Assist management with branch sales initiatives
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Perform additional sales and operational duties as required.
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Diploma in Sales, Business Management or a technical qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 3-5 years internal sales experience within a technical, engineering industry
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience leading or supervising an internal sales team.
- Proven experience achieving sales targets and growing customer accounts.
- Strong technical product knowledge.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP systems.
