Key Account Manager – Mining

Our client, a well-established global leader in the heavy equipment and mining industry, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager to join their Mining Division. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a sales professional with a strong mining background, proven business development success and the ability to build strategic customer relationships within the mining sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business growth, managing key customer accounts and identifying opportunities to expand market share across South Africa, with occasional international travel.

• Develop and implement strategies to secure new business within the mining sector.
• Identify and pursue opportunities with mining houses, contractors and industrial clients.
• Manage and grow relationships with existing key accounts while expanding the customer portfolio.
• Prepare and submit quotations, tenders and commercial proposals within required time frames.
• Conduct customer visits, mine site visits and project discussions to understand operational requirements.
• Provide technically sound equipment recommendations aligned to customer needs.
• Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management and CRM records.
• Monitor competitor activity, market trends and emerging business opportunities.
• Work closely with technical, workshop and product support teams to ensure exceptional customer service.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and training programmes.

• Post Matric qualification (NQF
  5) in Sales, Marketing, Technical or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical sales within the mining industry.
• Proven experience in business development and key account management.
• Strong understanding of mining operations, applications and equipment.
• Experience preparing quotations, tenders and commercial proposals.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout South Africa, with occasional international travel.
