Junior Geologist – Knysna

The Role

Our client offers field testing and laboratory services, and the junior geologist will be an integral support to the work executed by this company particularly with regard to laboratory work.

• Field Work & Data Collection: Conduct field mapping, core logging, soil/rock sampling, and coordinate drill pad preparation.
• Geological Modelling: Assist with 3D geological modelling, interpretation, and resource estimation using industry software.
• Grade Control: Perform, monitor, and report on grade control and stockpile sampling to support field operations.
• Technical Reporting: Assist with drafting technical reports, presentations, and maintaining geological databases.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental (SHERQ) regulations and protocols on-site.
• Accurately log, photograph and sample drill core.
• Ensure that all geoscientific data is collected accurately and stored appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: BSc Honours Degree in Geology.
• Hands on
  
  Experience:
  
  At least 3 years of relative experience.
• Strong Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Proficiency in geological software (e.g., GIS, Leapfrog, Datamine) and MS Office.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in remote locations, lift, and perform outdoor work. Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and assigned.
• Licensing: Valid driver’s license with own transport.
• The Junior Geologist must be prepared to split time between an office/laboratory and field. Enjoyment working outdoors is essential.
• Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
• An ability to think critically to effectively evaluate and resolve complex problems.
• Candidates living in Knysna will receive priority.
