Agronomist - Soil and Crop Health

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly knowledgeable Agronomist focused on soil and crop health for their agricultural operations in Benoni, Gauteng. This position is essential for maximizing crop yields and quality through expert analysis and recommendations regarding soil management, nutrient application, and pest/disease control. You will conduct field research, analyze data, and provide strategic advice to farmers and farm managers. • Conduct soil sampling and analysis to assess nutrient levels, pH, and soil structure.
• Develop and recommend appropriate fertilization and soil amendment programs.
• Monitor crops for signs of disease, pest infestation, or nutrient deficiencies.
• Provide recommendations for pest and disease management, emphasizing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
• Advise on optimal planting densities, crop rotations, and irrigation practices.
• Stay updated on the latest agricultural research, technologies, and best practices.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field.
• Proven experience in crop consulting or as an agronomist.
• In-depth knowledge of soil chemistry, plant nutrition, and crop physiology.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques for assessing crop health.
