Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation & Data Analysis

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geophysicist to join their exploration team in the Oil & Gas industry, based in Klerksdorp. This role is crucial for the interpretation of seismic data, identifying subsurface structures, and understanding geological formations critical for hydrocarbon exploration. You will work collaboratively with geologists and reservoir engineers to build accurate subsurface models and support drilling decisions. The successful candidate will leverage advanced geophysical techniques and software to analyze complex datasets, contributing significantly to the discovery and development of oil and gas reserves within the North West province and beyond.

• Perform seismic data processing, interpretation, and attribute analysis to identify geological structures and potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Contribute to exploration prospect generation and risk assessment based on geophysical interpretations.
• Evaluate and recommend seismic acquisition and processing strategies.
• Utilize advanced geophysical software and techniques for data analysis and visualization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure geophysical interpretations align with overall project objectives.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in geophysical interpretation, preferably in the Oil & Gas exploration sector.
• Strong proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Geo Graphix, IHS Markit).
• Solid understanding of seismic processing techniques, wave propagation, and earth modeling.
• Experience with 2D and 3D seismic data analysis and attribute analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Klerksdorp.
