Senior Geologist - Exploration & Resource Assessment

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Geologist to join their exploration team, focusing on resource assessment and project evaluation in the Benoni area. This role is fundamental to identifying and quantifying prospective oil and gas reserves, contributing to strategic asset growth. You will interpret geological data, build subsurface models, and collaborate with engineering teams to define exploration targets and development opportunities within the Gauteng region.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in geological modeling and a strong understanding of petroleum systems.

• Analyze and interpret geological data, including well logs, seismic surveys, core samples, and outcrop data.
• Construct detailed 3D geological models of subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Estimate hydrocarbon reserves and resources, applying probabilistic methods and uncertainty analysis.
• Identify and evaluate potential exploration drilling targets and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to integrate disciplines and optimize subsurface understanding.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration and development projects in Benoni .

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a geologist in the exploration and production (E&P) sector of the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Decision Space Geosciences).
• Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, and petroleum systems.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and data integration.
