Senior Geoscientist - Geophysicist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Geoscientist with a specialization in geophysics to join their exploration and development team in Vereeniging . This pivotal role involves the interpretation of seismic data, geological models, and other geophysical datasets to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon resources within the Oil & Gas sector. You will play a key part in developing subsurface imaging strategies and contributing to exploration prospect generation and reservoir characterization.

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in advanced seismic data processing and interpretation techniques, significantly impacting the company's exploration success in the Gauteng region.

• Process, interpret, and integrate seismic and other geophysical data to identify potential hydrocarbon plays.
• Build and refine static geological models using interpretation software and well data.
• Conduct detailed geophysical analysis to understand subsurface structures, stratigraphy, and rock properties.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to create integrated subsurface models for exploration and development.
• Prepare geophysical interpretations, reports, and presentations for internal reviews and external partners.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Geology, or a related geoscience discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience as a geophysicist in the Oil & Gas industry, with a strong emphasis on exploration.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Opend Tect).
• Expertise in seismic data processing, attribute analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Strong understanding of geological concepts and their relationship to geophysical observations.
