Senior Environmental Scientist - Impact Assessment

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to lead environmental impact assessments and management projects in Nelspruit . This pivotal role will involve evaluating the potential environmental consequences of development projects, proposing mitigation measures, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and regulatory bodies to deliver comprehensive environmental solutions. • Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for various development projects.
• Identify potential environmental risks and develop effective mitigation and management plans.
• Prepare detailed environmental reports, including baseline studies, impact analysis, and monitoring programs.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and project approvals.
• Manage environmental consultants and field teams during project execution.
• Stay current with environmental legislation, policies, and best practices in impact assessment.

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a strong focus on impact assessment and management.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
• Experience in ecological surveys, baseline data collection, and environmental modeling.
• Proficiency in environmental management software and GIS applications.
• Strong project management, report writing, and communication skills, suitable for a hybrid work setting.
