About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and technically proficient Agricultural Technologist focused on crop monitoring and assessment for farms in the Klerksdorp region. This role is essential for ensuring crop health and productivity through regular field inspections and data collection. You will work directly with farm managers and agronomists, utilizing various tools and technologies to track crop development, identify potential issues like disease or pest infestations, and provide timely reports.

This position requires a hands‑on approach and a keen eye for detail in a practical agricultural setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor crop growth, health, and development across various farm sites.
  • Identify and document signs of pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stress on crops.
  • Collect data on key agricultural metrics, such as plant height, leaf area, and yield estimations.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used for crop assessment, including moisture meters, soil sampling tools, and potentially drone technology.
  • Prepare detailed reports on crop status, findings, and recommendations for farm management.
  • Liaise with agronomists and other technical staff to ensure coordinated crop management strategies.
Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
  • 1-3 years of experience in crop monitoring, field scouting, or a similar agricultural role.
  • Familiarity with common crop pests and diseases affecting the region around Klerksdorp.
  • Basic understanding of crop physiology and agricultural best practices.
