Senior Geologist - Exploration

Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist specializing in exploration to join their team in Welkom. This critical role involves identifying and evaluating potential new hydrocarbon reserves through detailed geological analysis and field studies. You will be responsible for interpreting seismic data, analyzing well logs, and developing geological models to guide exploration efforts in the Free State province and beyond.

• Interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and assess prospective hydrocarbon plays.
• Develop detailed subsurface geological models, including structural and strati graphic interpretations.
• Plan and supervise geological field operations, including seismic acquisition and core sampling.
• Analyze well logs, core data, and production information to characterize reservoir properties.
• Collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and geochemists to integrate data and de-risk prospects.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration targets.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration geology, with a strong track record of success.
• Proficiency in geological software for mapping, modeling, and data analysis (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex geological concepts clearly.
• Strong understanding of basin analysis and regional tectonic settings.
