About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to contribute to their exploration and asset evaluation efforts in the Klerksdorp region. This field-based role involves detailed geological mapping, subsurface analysis, and the integration of geophysical data to identify and appraise potential hydrocarbon resources. You will play a critical role in guiding exploration strategies and providing essential geological input for field development.
The position demands a deep understanding of regional geology and the ability to work effectively in diverse field conditions, collaborating closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and management. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in a hands-on capacity, making significant contributions to the company's growth in the South African energy sector.
- Conduct detailed geological field mapping and data acquisition.
- Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to build and refine subsurface geological models.
- Evaluate prospective areas for hydrocarbon potential and provide recommendations for exploration drilling.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to define well targets and optimize reservoir characterization.
- Prepare geological reports, presentations, and prospect evaluations for management review.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental protocols during field operations.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in exploration geology, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Proficiency in geological software for interpretation and modeling (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
- Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy relevant to hydrocarbon systems.
- Excellent field skills and experience in data acquisition and validation.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging field environments and contribute to team objectives.
