• Lead the design and execution of complex synthetic routes for novel small molecules.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of synthetic organic chemists.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yields, purity, and scalability.
• Develop and implement new synthetic methodologies and technologies.
• Oversee purification and characterization of synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, and DMPK scientists to advance drug discovery programs.
• Troubleshoot challenging synthetic problems and devise innovative solutions.
• Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and external collaborations.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and good laboratory practices (GLP).
• Contribute to the preparation of research reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.

• Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry, with a significant portion in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of research scientists.
• Extensive knowledge of modern synthetic organic reactions and strategies, including asymmetric synthesis and catalysis.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex synthetic challenges and develop robust synthetic routes.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific data effectively.
• Experience with process development and scale-up is a plus.
