What You Will Enjoy Doing
- Electrical Maintenance:
Maintain single/three-phase and low-to-medium voltage plant equipment to maximize availability. - Fault Diagnostics:
Rapidly troubleshoot and repair complex electrical breakdowns to minimize production downtime. - Instrumentation & Control:
Calibrate, test, and maintain field loops including flow, pressure, level, and temperature sensors. - Drives & Automation:
Monitor and service VSDs, soft starters, DOL/Star-Delta panels, and automated systems. - Drawing Interpretation:
Read and update complex electrical schematics, wiring layouts, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs. - PLC & Network Diagnostics:
Trace PLC logic faults and troubleshoot industrial networks (Profinet/Profibus). - Technical Reporting & CMMS:
Compile shift handovers, logs, and capture accurate asset/spares data in the CMMS. - Root Cause Analysis:
Participate in technical RCA investigations on equipment failures to implement permanent solutions. - Safety & SANS Compliance:
Adhere strictly to the OHS Act, LOTO procedures, and SANS 10142 codes. - Audit & Portfolio Prep:
Maintain statutory service logs, checklists, and calibration files for external audits. - Team Supervision:
Coordinate and supervise site contractors, apprentices, and technical assistants. - Spares & Project Planning:
Scope upcoming technical jobs, define bills of materials, and manage workshop inventory. - Documentation:
Draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting guides, and one-point technical lessons. - Mechanical & 5S Support:
Assist with fabrication, welding, and rigging during shutdowns; maintain 5S standards. - Operational Flexibility:
Execute 24/7 continuous shift cycles, standby rotations, and required emergency overtime
- Expert knowledge of electrical/instrumentation testing tools (multi-meters, insulation/clamp meters).
- Strong technical literacy with the ability to write analytical breakdown and engineering reports.
- Clear understanding of production metrics, 5S principles, and industrial risk/safety practices.
- Analytical decision-making, attention to precision, and ability to work under tight downtime pressure
- Qualifications:
Electrical Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal Essential). (Wireman's License advantageous) - Education:
Full N6 Engineering Certificate or higher. - Experience:
At least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (Plastics/Packaging advantageous). - Logistics:
Valid Code 08 (Code
B) driver's licence and reliable own transport. - IT Literacy:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). - Clearance:
Clear criminal record and traceable references
