About the Role
Our client is seeking a qualified Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Technician to join their essential support services team in Vereeniging. This role is pivotal in maintaining the operational readiness and safety of all ground support equipment (GSE) utilized at the airport. Your responsibilities will include the inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of a diverse range of GSE, ensuring that aircraft operations can proceed smoothly and efficiently.
You will be a vital part of the team that keeps the airport infrastructure running effectively.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various types of GSE, including baggage tractors, belt loaders, aircraft stairs, and de-icing trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct safety checks to ensure all GSE meets operational and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and inventory of parts for GSE.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform on-the-spot repairs as needed.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Proven experience as a Ground Support Equipment Technician or a similar mechanical/technical role, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to ground operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational needs.
