Floor Fitter

Job Summary

The Floor Fitter is responsible for measuring, preparing, and installing various types of flooring materials in residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The role requires attention to detail, technical skill, and the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship while adhering to health and safety standards.

• Measure floor areas and estimate material requirements.

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and removing old flooring where necessary.

• Install various flooring materials including:

  • Vinyl flooring

  • Laminate flooring

  • Carpet tiles

  • Hardwood flooring

  • Rubber flooring

  • Ceramic and other specialist floor coverings

• Cut and fit flooring materials accurately around edges, corners, fixtures, and fittings.

• Apply adhesives, underlays, and finishing materials according to specifications.

• Repair, replace, and maintain existing flooring installations.

• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and customer satisfaction.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and clean condition.

• Follow all workplace health and safety regulations.

• Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members regarding project progress and requirements.

• Grade 12 / Matric preferred.

• Relevant trade qualification or flooring installation certification advantageous.

• Minimum 2 years' experience in flooring installation or a related construction role.

• Experience working with a range of flooring materials and installation methods.
