Fleet Mechanic

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic to join their transportation and logistics operations in Benoni . This role is vital for maintaining the operational readiness and safety of a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles, including trucks and light-duty vehicles. You will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and adherence to strict safety standards.

This is a hands‑on position for a mechanic who is proficient with heavy-duty vehicles and committed to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our client's transportation assets.

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on various commercial vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance inspections and service schedules for the entire fleet.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems on vehicles.
• Utilise diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical issues accurately.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company standards.
• Maintain detailed records of all services, repairs, and parts used for each vehicle.

• Qualified Mechanic with proven experience in commercial fleet maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working as a heavy-duty vehicle mechanic.
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with automotive tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, drive trains , and vehicle electrical systems.
• Ability to interpret repair manuals and technical specifications.
• A valid driver's license is required; commercial driver's license (CDL) is an advantage.
