About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to manage the fleet maintenance operations in Klerksdorp . This role is vital for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles, including trucks and heavy-duty equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other critical components.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, a thorough understanding of diesel technology, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of vehicle upkeep.
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, suspension, and braking systems.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, tire rotation, and system checks.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and specialized tools to identify mechanical issues and ensure accurate repairs.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records for all vehicles in the fleet.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and roadworthiness standards.
- Respond to roadside breakdowns or urgent repair requests to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Certified Diesel Mechanic with a recognized qualification and proven experience.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine systems, components, and repair procedures.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools for heavy vehicles.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems specific to commercial vehicles.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet fleet operational demands.
- A valid driver's license, preferably with a heavy vehicle endorsement.
