About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician to join their installation and maintenance team in Benoni . This role involves the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at various client sites. You will play a key role in ensuring reliable network connectivity and optimal performance for customers. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical acumen in telecommunications systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional on-site service and support within the Gauteng region.
Key Responsibilities- Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems for voice and data networks.
- Configure and deploy telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and access points.
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, signal degradation, and equipment malfunctions.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system checks to ensure network stability and performance.
- Read and interpret network diagrams , blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Provide end-user support and training on the use of telecommunications systems and services.
- Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or Network Installer.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP), structured cabling, and telecommunications hardware.
- Proficiency with testing equipment such as OTDRs, cable testers, and network analyzers.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond to service calls in a timely manner.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Fiber Optic Association) are a strong asset.
