About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrical Technician to join their power generation facility in Klerksdorp. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the power plant, ensuring continuous and safe operation. You will work closely with engineers and other technical staff to troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support new equipment installations.
This is a vital position within the energy sector, offering a stable career path and the opportunity to work on essential infrastructure.
- Install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switch gear, and control panels.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment and procedures.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Assist in the commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Technician in a power generation or industrial plant environment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and using diagnostic tools.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety principles and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to work shifts or be on standby as required.
